Blueridge Parkway Cycling Tour - Day Minus 1

It's almost 10 PM and we surely need to get to sleep. Tomorrow is Day 1 with 85 miles and 8500' of climb, the first 2000' in the first 10 miles - brutal! Both Janie and Jett are stressing about it. I am confident we will be fine. But I must get some sleep!

I will post photos tomorrow I hope. We have been kept so busy today. Paul Wood (our very cute, fit, sweet, nice North Carolinian tour guide with great legs) has done a standout job on the tour so far. We are staying in an adorably sweet B&B in the historic old town area of Staunton, Virginia (6 hours north of Asheville, our cyclign destination). He took us to a very nice restaurant for dinner, then handmade ice cream after. I surely hope I will not gain even more weight after this!

We have a small group in this tour:

Janie the Great, our BFF from New Jersey. We go on a cycling vacation together each year. She picked this one, so we will blame her for any and everything.

Trevor, a lovely retired chap from Devon, England. He has cycled all over the world.

Pat, an orthopedic surgeon from North Carolina.

Thurman, a retiree from Georgia. He's quite the character.

Rod, a crew member from North Carolina (who spent 20 years living in LA).

More descriptions and photos tomorrow!
