We finished the day with 80 miles and another 8000' of climb. Today the damage came at mile 40 with a 7-mile Category 2 climb. Wicked. But gorgeous weather, beautiful scenery, great people.
Here's our sweet Paul, inflating our tires. Paul and Rod do everything for us, from hauling our luggage to making our lunches to inflating our tires.

We learned that our cute crew boy, Rod was cycling with us today and that although he is a hardcore mountain biker, he has not been on a road bike since he was a kid. We dubbed him a road virgin and decided to ink him, a la RAGBRAI style. Here is Rod, assuming the position.

Love him! He rode 29 miles with us. And was very happy to get off the bike and into the van. He said, "I have to hand it to you roadies!" Also, true to his mountain biker mojo, he wore these loose mountain bike shorts, not spandex on his ride.

Beautiful and cold morning.

Jettie is happy. She killed it this morning.

Janie is feeling better than yesterday, which was tough for her.

Gorgeousness all around.

This picture does no do this little hamlet justice. It looked exactly like a portrait of Americana...

Lovely farmland. We had more diversity of sights today.

Sweet little something (millhouse?).

Happy to be at the rest stop!

Paul, Jettie, and Janie.

Picturesque bridge.

Thurman had an interesting jersey today.

Gorgeous start out of the lunch stop.

Jett decided to go at her own speed after lunch. Janie was chugging along at her own speed, so I headed off at my speed and arrived at the rest stop a little early.

At the rest stop I found Pat lounging above and Rod hanging out below. Trevor was behind us. Paul had staggered us (girls first) so that we would arrive roughly at the same time. He did a great job.

Jett decided to call it a day after 70 miles. Janie and I took off for the last 10 miles. Other than my wicked rash, I was feeling pretty good. Tired, but good.

Here's the door to our room at Hotel Floyd. Cute little hippy-dippy hotel in the town of Floyd. This entire town is a hippy haven.

Original artwork in our room. Everything here is green and environmentally friendly.

The view from our window. I love old graveyards!

The court house in Floyd.

Dinner with the team: Trevor, Thurman, Janie, Paul, me, Jett, Pat, and Rod.

Trevor with his massive beer.

Another shot of the group. Jett drank 2 Buds tonight. How will she fare tomorrow.
We're having a grand time. Breakfast is at 7 AM tomorrow. We need to be ready to ride directly after. We have a 84-mile day. We start with a Category 2 climb (3350' over 6.5 miles) right at the start of our ride. We are all feeling scared to death over this little nugget right at the start. It's got to be better than at mile 65 like Day 1.
The entire BRP so far has been either sustained climbing or descending. There is no "flat" out here. It's very challenging.

Oh my, I didn't know a tour could be this wicked hard. I would have never made it. You, Jett and Janie are amazing!- Cathy
