Day 2 - 101 miles / 3243 ft if climb

What a day. First if all I am an idiot. We has gorgeous hot weather yesterday, so we assumed we'd be warm today. After I was dressed in my shorts and a light vest and arm warmers, I felt a cool wind. My duffle bag was already packed and on the truck. I decided it would be too much of a hassle to go back, etc... All day I kicked myself because the weather was cold and I FROZE all day long.

We ride in nasty chip seal almost all day. We had a couple of climbs, with bone-jarring children descents. Jett made up a good chipseal song.

We froze to death at lunch at mile 58. The total mileage was scheduled as 90.5, but Janie wanted to do a full century. She's trying to do 100-mile rides in all 50 states. This was her chance to check off Oregon. So after 58 cold clammy miles, it was tough to know we'd be at it for another 42. Plus we still had to figure out where to ride the extra 10 miles.

Jett rode strong all day long, which is fitting because today is her birthday!

We cruised into Reedsport late in the afternoon. Janie and I got some local suggestions to ride out to Winchester Bay, which we did. After we found our bags and added more clothing layers!!!

We had a blast talking to the local fishermen. One guy caught 2 chinook salmon. One was 30 pounds, the other 40.

Back at camp, Jett got her birthday gift - a pair of Skins compression tights for post cycling recovery.

Now exhausted. We have over 75 miles and plenty of climb. Rest assured I will be bundled up as we will be on highway 101 mist if the day. 10% chance if rain tonight. Yuck!!!
